Species Name: Purl
Description:
Found within small burrows the Purl are a creature based on comfort. Living in the ground typically their burrows are filled with lush leaves and hay they collect and various amounts of fabrics they have stolen from humanoids. Their social structure is quiet and based entirely off touch since every single one of them is born blind due to a genetic deficiency. They do prefer to be left alone, however when a impression is held they will contact humanoids by leaving gifts of squares of fabric with a paw print on them. Utilized a few years ago for the texture of their fur to be used in clothing, due to their remarkable ability to grow back their fur in only several hours once it’s been sheared. They willingly give their fur in exchange for soft fabrics and sweet fruits.
With very soft fur they are a race of bipedal bear like creatures that resemble espurr. However they do have a form of self defense with their sharp teeth and claws that retract, extending outward to a max of three inches. Their fur color is mostly gradient purples and their eyes are large, and inflicted with a vitreous abnormality which is commonly described as vitreous veils or strands. Eyes are filled with a clear gel called vitreous humor, but sometimes cells or strands of the gel can clump together so that they are less transparent than the rest of the gel, giving them constellation eyes. Most are rather intimidated by their gaze, which is emotionless and dead due to their blindness. Their ears are short and curled against their head since these creatures are sensitive to sound, and their tails vary in length depending on the rank. The pads of their paws are grippy, allowing them to easily scale up smooth surfaces.
Their cry is similar to a “myaa!” noise, capable of speech but only in very basic language. Typically only use one word responses, enjoy baby talk.
Typical Chase:
Since visual chases have no place in their blind dark world, these chases are simpler than most. The female will cry out from within a small clearing in the forest, where the sun is warmest and the flowers smell best. Several males will answer the call and show up to the clearing, and the female will pick the male who gives the best eskimo kissies. Points are given for soft fur and nuzzling skills.
Impressing:
Impressions are usually performed with the humanoids in questions sitting in a large circle, with the impressing in question in the middle. This is to prevent any accidents and making sure the Purl can find their impressed. Impressions are made between who gives the best scratches, who nuzzles the best, and who’s voice is the most pleasant to the Purl in question. Since these little cuties demand to be carried once they make a bond, points are awarded to those with comfortable holds or soft skin, or who wear materials that feel especially nice, and in some cases those with the softest hair and nicest shoulders to perch on.

stocking
the second tallest after the cables standing at a max of 2 ½ feet tall, these long socked variations have the curliest fur and most white markings. they boast the thickest and most luxurious of furs typically used in blankets and dresses. they are a light lavender color and have the most musical and longest cries. known for their spoiled attitudes and affinity for stealing nectarines and peaches. practically consider themselves royalty and expect everyone to fawn over how soft their fur is.
Scarce:
eyelet
the most uncommon of the ranks, standing at 1 ½ feet tall, their fur is the most delicate and requires constant attention. ridiculously prone to becoming matted and dirty their fur is refined and used in lace and for eyelet patterns, typically for doilies and curtains. they love warm water and enjoy most perching on heads and shoulders, being the only rank not entirely blind. though the most they can see is smudges of color they are easily excited by new sensations, and can attribute colors to sounds and smells. they like small berries best such as blueberries and blackberries and insist on being fed by hand. found in various shades of light pastel colors, and have the most color variety of the ranks.
Standards:
cable
cable purls are the tallest and have the most easily bruised egos at 3 feet tall. they think of themselves as the knights in shining armor for their bonded here to rescue them from a life of monotony. fur is standard used in scarves and gloves and a bit coarse when unwashed. they boast the most water resistant fur with an undercoat that provides protection against the elements. they prefer star fruit and papaya, and are typically colored in soft violets.
garter
can be either gender, and stand at 2 feet tall. garter’s have thinner fur used in more delicate garments such as underwears and stockings. their fur can be spun the thinnest and they boast the most elastic of the furs, which also grows the fastest. these purls are entirely white, though some can have a more peachy or golden coloring than others. they love apples and pears, and are very loving to their bonded. the most demanding when it comes to petting and also enjoy giving gifts to their bonded.
seed
standing at 2 feet tall, seeds can be argued as the most impressive despite their common appearance. they boast fire resistant fur used in fire resistant blankets and garments used to fight flames. this rank prefers to burrow and most commonly steals their bonded’s clothing in order to make nests underneath objects. they require the most warmth otherwise they are the most fussy of all the ranks, and are the most temperamental. prefer to pilfer grapes and cranberries, but have a strange habit of refusing food unless they “find” it themselves. colored in various shades of gray.
